Backflow Prevention
Backflow is a plumbing term for when water flows in the wrong direction. This can occur when the private property water supply is lost or is at a low pressure due to utility service repairs.
Potential contaminants can then enter the piping systems via faults or open water connections flowing back into the utility service mains. Once the water supply is reinstated, it allows redistribution of these contaminants to other users.
Backflow devices are used to stop these contaminants entering the water supply.
These requirements are dependent on the level of hazard represented at each property or facility.
All backflow devices must be periodically checked and tested by an authorised backflow tester to make sure they are still functioning at their optimum capacity.
As registered backflow device testers and authorised installers, Southern Waters Plumbing are experts in these matters. All devices must be tested annually.
We understand all our obligations in regards to these tests, so you can have peace of mind that everything will be completed to the highest possible standard.
If you have any backflow devices on your commercial or residential property or need to know more about backflow prevention, give Southern Waters Plumbing a call.
